These are traditional spiced cookies that have been made for centuries in Holland (Netherlands), Belgium, and Germany. The exact origin is unknown and the recipes differ slightly from country to country. We have tried for a blending of tastes for a cookie that is slightly crisp on the outside, but soft inside with a delightful spicy flavor.
